Entry #8 What are convergent and divergent questions? How can these types of questions help students initiate addressing reasoning as an active process?

Questioning skills help students develop critical thinking. The two types of questioning are: Convergent and divergent questioning.

Convergent Questioning:
Are those that involve recall and limits answers to questions to a single or small number of responses.  When answering these questions; learners can answer spontaneously, they don't need to analyze the answer. These question  are testing rote knowledge of concrete facts .Students may  make reference from previous experiences
.
Instances of convergent questioning:

-  The meaning of a particular word.
- Who is the author of the book that we are  reading?
- Who are the characters?

Divergent questioning

In this case, answers are more open; these allow the students express themselves. Students to answer divergent  quiestioning not  only need to recall, they have to reflect and  analyze the responses; When we use divergent questions in our classroom, we encourage students to think out of the box; to think by themselves .
“So, to use convergent and divergent questions in our classrooms to make independent thinker ”

Entry #7 What are two ways classroom design has changed over the past twenty years? Explain in depth each way.

School’s classrooms must be places whose atmosphere establishes a sense of security, ownership, and comfort in order to learning to be optimized. Students learn  better in confortable places. The classrooms design has to meet students´ needs, these are: auditory, visual and kinesthetic.

The Traditional Classrooms was designed to teachers stayed infront of the students. Students were one  after the other infront of the teachers. This is referred to as direct instruction, where students most often are the passive recipients of information.
They couldn´t work outside the classroom if the room was small, interact each other wasn´t the most important thing. Many years ago, the desks and benches weren't moving, they were glued to the floor; in  this type of classrooms, students couldn´t interact.

In the nontraditional classroom design, desks' students are arranged in a semi-circle or an U shape; also, the teachers and students feel confortable when they are doing an activity; teachers can be work inside or outside the classroom. Facilitators have to create a good environment for them.
The teacher can develop the lessons  using the diffetens parts of the room. these may include: tales, activities in groups, and activities that  involving all the learners.
This design allows students to have a sense of ownership as the lessons are not conducted with the; instead for them.

Entry #6 What are three types of comprehension, and how do these differ from one another? Provide one example of each type.

Comprehension don't means the capacity or the action to understand something, It involves  memory, cognition and metacognition.Memory is the process to retaining information. Cognition is the ability to process information . Metacognition is a higher thinking process.

We have three types of comprehension; but also We have to know how to apply it, those types of comprehension are:
1.  Literal:
Is a "fact-based evidenced"  of comprehension, For example students benefit from visual things.

2. Aplied:
Is "Comparison and Contrast" it is a result to making conections from our own experiences or things about that i read or heard.
For example if we are teaching about an event that happened like a war , we can read  Trojan book.

3. Implied:
Is “inferential comprehension” it's based on context or illustrative material being presented in oral, visual, tactile, or kinesthetic formats. For example: we can use books or videos about  the Civil war in El salvador because they can learn better.

As  teachers, we want our students to  learn and understand, our objective isn´t memorization, our objective is the students internalize and understand that they learned.

Entry #5 How can someone give effective feedback to his/her students?

Feedback is one of the most important tools in teaching because allows us to know the level of students learning; but this help us how to improve their knowledge.

This is a teacher tool used to measure the effectiveness of teaching but not to measure their knowledge, to know what areas they need to improve.

Feedback gives students an oportunity to become better in the steps of their learning.

Students need to promove skills such us listening, writting, reading and speaking. If they have feedback in those skills they will know the things they have done wrong.

Every student needs feedback, but you have to know how to give it. They like to listen positive comments about what they have done. If you give them bad comments, you have to be disrespectful with your students.

Entry # 3 What's your call on?Assessment in education must, first and foremost, serve the purpose of supporting learning .Paul Black Dylan William 2006.

Assessment is the most important thing of education because as teachers we have to measure our students knowledge.

In the past teachers were focus on the students just get good grades but nowadays teachers are focus on students learn through getting conscious about the need of learning.

The thinkers based that theory on welfare and commodity of students, so students can check by themselves their own errors without appeal to the teachers.

Also assessment for learning allows teachers to know how to guide their students as individual learners and promotes understanding of goals.

Entry 2 How can you get the students up to this point by the end of the course or the year?

Independent learning is a way that every student has to follow.
Teachers must encourage their students  to learn by themselves in this way, they  will develop skills wich  will help students in their learning process.
Teachers can assign activities and homework at out classroom in order to improve their abilities and the teachers can measure students knowledge

Though these types of activities students will discover news skills such as self-direction and time management.
